Sick and Tired.

I have to say that I've been the lazy American in the past few months. I was so tired of following every little or BIG thing in Washington the past eight years, that I think I've developed some apathy. But I catch my favorite commentary (aka "News") every once and a while and today I heard the news about Dr. Tiller.

I am sickened. Truly sickened.

I can honestly say that I believe everyone wants abortion to be a thing of the past. Who can honestly say that they celebrate abortion? No one. I, as a pro-choice, feminist, tree-hugging liberal, can honestly say I hate abortion. But I hate "freedom" with limits more.

Freedom is what America is all about. Freedom to make mistakes, freedom to earn a living, freedom to health (um, somewhat questionable freedom these days), and freedom to life. Freedom to make choices. And live (or apparently die) by their consequences.

SO, that said, how can anyone condone murdering a physician that performs legal abortions? For women who legally seek them. Apparently all the death threats I thought were a thing of the past still occur. What cave have I been living in? Where do these extremists hide out? From the search I just did on the WWWeb, not in the dark alley I presumed.

Some days I'm so sad to say that I am ashamed to be an American. Today is one of those days. Maybe tomorrow I'll be proud, maybe.
